Support to the Homeless “Love Plates"

The Planned Purpose Inc. 501 (c) (3) has decided to provide financial, logistical, and operational support to Ms. Debra King and Ms. Gloria Worthy of Oklahoma City who has been selflessly providing hot meals, food, and supplies to the homeless in Oklahoma City Oklahoma out of their own pockets without any outside aide. Both ladies are retirees and they take money out of their only monthly income to assist those in need.

It was brought to my attention by my Chief Administrative Officer G. L. Bradley that this service was being provided and that we should be involved. Initially, they were feeding upwards of 40-50 people a week and assisting in other areas of their livelihoods. Now that our organization has decided to assist the time, money, and resources to assist their mission we will now be feeding, clothing, and providing assistance to those in need that are homeless and actually living on the streets and under bridges. We have a realistic goal of doing this on a weekly basis and we plan on reaching 75 to 100 people.

This is true grassroots humanitarian work done out of love for mankind. While we were handing out plates there were two instances that I’ve held onto. The first is that Ms. Debra was recognized by one of the homeless women that had been missing for upwards of two weeks. This hit my heart in the right place because I knew at that moment these two ladies have been accountable to a homeless community that is spread out throughout the Oklahoma City metro. The second was when a lady who is homeless was sited picking up trash and she asked my wife and me what church we belonged to or worked for. We replied this is not thru a church this is thru God and we doing it out of Love and following the lead of Ms. Debra and Ms. Debra.

Moreover, we told them that all they need to do from here is tell us what they want or need and if we have to resource to assist then we will. Planned Purpose Inc. was created to mentor youth and serve the community. We do this daily by mentoring youth, assisting disabled veterans, visiting schools, and now feeding/helping the homeless.

Early in the week, we formulate a plan on the action of what needs will be addressed for that week to include the meal of the week. On Friday the food is purchased and prepped. Saturday morning the plates are warned up in the oven/stove and packaged. As soon as the plates are packaged they are taken around the city and the homeless living in the streets are sought out and fed.

What makes this more of a selfless act is that it is being conducted during a Pandemic and just the act of serving the food and be dangerous to one’s health, especially those of age. I figure if they can do it, I can too.

Matthew 23:11 states “But he that is the greatest among you shall be your servant.” KJV
